Unrestricted free agent forward Shelden Williams(notes) is about to make $1.3 million over the next year from the Boston Celtics, according to the Boston Herald.

The 6’9″, 250-pound Williams, who sometimes goes by the nickname The Landlord, took the court for Sacramento and Minnesota last year and is now taking one of the Celtics last roster spots. He apparently drew interest from the Celtics back in 2006 when he was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks fifth overall. The Celts had the then-Duke star come and work out for them before the draft at that point.

As part of the deal, Williams must undergo plastic surgery to move his eyes closer to each other.

“We want a basketball player, not E.T.”, said one insider. “We need something that will draw fans, not suck their brains out and fly away in a saucer.”
