Final thoughts – Allen Iverson

It feels like he is dying doesn’t it? AI has retired. His last act as a ball player with no team wanting to give him the rock 35 minutes a game. Granted, he was a punk at times, but AI was the man. At G’Town, he was the man. In Philly, he was the man. Heck, even in Denver despite hogging shots, he put up 25 a game. In Memphis, he was not the man. When AI can’t be the man, then he is done.

The guy never changed. Ever. He continued to be the focal point of his team throughout his career and more or less stood the test of time. He crossed Jordan over…..and bad!!

He never won a championship, but he will go down as one of the top ten guards to ever play. He will definitely go down as the fastest ever to run a floor. Think about it…a guy barely hitting six feet tall consistently and effectively cut teams up from the top of the key to the basket. He always found a way to score. One has to be superior in many ways to pull that off for a career.

The guy just didn’t give a crap about anyone but himself, but that was the great thing about him and he barely ever got media flack about it. AI will be in our hall of fame even if he doesn’t make the the NBA’s.
